Normalize Your Spinal Function with Our Chiropractic Adjustment Treatment
Chiropractic adjustment refers to the pressure or thrust a trained specialist applies to the spine to release tension in a joint. This technique allows bones and vertebrae to move normally and accelerates the body’s healing process.
The chiropractors at Associated Physicians Inc. knows that joint dysfunction is a process, not an isolated condition, which is why we consider the interconnected whole when administering care. When you’re ready to start healing, we’d love to be your partner.
What to Expect from Your First Chiropractic Manipulation Therapy Visit
Chiropractic adjustments may be recommended after your initial visit. We will ask about your health history, perform a detailed physical exam with a particular focus on the spine, and depending on your case, perform other examinations such as X-rays.
If you are experiencing pain in the neck or spine, our chiropractors will locate the joints that aren’t moving and apply a high velocity, low amplitude thrust in that area. There may be popping or cracking, which indicates a release of gas in the joint. This dissipates the tension and the muscle spasm dies down.
Movements will be re-checked afterward to verify an increase in movement in the spine and neck, lumbar spine, and mid back. If you are not fully relaxed, the technique may need to be repeated. To aid relaxation, ice or light stretching may be applied to the area.
Spinal manipulation relieves aches in the body
The ultimate goal of spinal manipulation is to reduce abnormal separations of the surfaces of a joint, otherwise known as subluxation. This method is highly effective in relieving discomfort in the back and neck, as well as for patients suffering from:
- Muscle spasm
- Uneven hips
- Shoulder pain
- Tennis elbow
- Sports Injury
- Upper or lower back pain
